We should take to the streets....

This is an interesting idea. Frankly, I think if we were to take to the streets, the first thing we should address is the influence of lobbyists on our government. We might see very different voting records from our representatives if they weren't being paid and their campaigns weren't financed by big business. Not to mention, a LOUD public statement of disgust with the current system might have its own effect on their behavior. A friend posted the following quote on a different forum discussing the loss of our ability to talk about what we really think with each other. To discuss anything the slightest bit controversial, even for purposes of enlightenment, is now considered rude and boorish.
