Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot
Of whom I am one - I've surely lost all three of my readers by now. I'd planned, with much prompting, to write a post for my beloved sister for a Christmas present (not that all of my sisters aren't much loved, but this one likes my writing enough to hassle me by phone and email unmercifully, for which I am quite grateful. You know who you are!) Anyway, so much for that good intention - gone the way of many another. (Oh, whither do they go? And is that how you spell whither, I wonder.)
This is to be a pointlessly rambling post, in case you can't tell already - all I'm capable of after spending the day working, wiping snotty noses (including my own), soothing barking coughs (including my own), scaling mount laundry, cleaning, reading other peoples' blogs (breed 'em and weep, phantom scribbler, oh the joys) and making truly inedible pad thai (at least it looked like pad thai, I'm sure if I'd used the right ingredients instead of last minute substitutions it would have tasted like it, too). Now, at midnight, I'm ready to blog! Sort of. I've about a thousand topics really, just none I'm ready to tackle at midnight.
Soooooo.... What about those Lakers, huh? Not that I would know really, having never watched a game in my life. Just trying to fit in here. This is my life. Bo-ring. Blessedly so. Wanna know what we did for New Years? Thought so.
We so rarely get to go out on a date that we're not even sure how. Sad, isn't it. My mil kindly volunteered to watch the kids sleep so we could get out and party down for New Year's Eve. We went to the boardwalk and hung out at the beach for a little while and watched two motorcycle patrolmen misbehave terribly, racing around scaring the pedestrians and doing tricks on their cyles. Then we went to a diner nearby and had shakes and fries. Drove around aimlessly for a bit, restrained ourselves from going grocery shopping at Walmart as that would be just too middle-aged parent, and went home at 10:30. We did watch the ball drop online and share a New Year's kiss, though it wasn't on the lips as I have a cold sore. Sexy, huh? Woohoo.
But! I do have cute Christmas pictures.... (which is the real draw here anyway - don't think I don't know it)
Aaarghh! I have cute Christmas pictures that Blogger won't post! You'll just have to take my word for it. We had a fantastic Christmas, very welcome after the unbelievable rough one last year. Ah hah! Here they are. This is the dollhouse my mother made for them. She's also sent me the before pictures so I can reconstruct it after they've dismantled it (another blog maybe and much therapy).

And here are just some good pictures of darling children.

Aw, those are cute Christmas pictures! Your New Years sounds about as exciting as mine. We stayed home alone (sans child) and I fell asleep on the couch at 10:30 because I was sick. Party!
Thanks for the comment over at my site.
At last! A new post! Slacker.
We went to my friend Sharon's house (with all of our own kids, plus one extra) for New Year's (and I was still sick-ish from my own recent bout of illness). We barely made it to midnight to watch the ball drop, then lurched home and went to bed. Woo! We're cookin' with heat now, eh?
You haven't lost me as a reader (even though you didn't say that you read mine, maybe you don't at all. wow, that hurts). Great pics. My mother brought a dollhouse for our daughter, although it was bought not made (I cannot even imagine what a homemade structure, from her hands, would amount to).
New Year tradition is The Band's The Last Waltz, watch the ball plummet and bed. This year, the first 10 minutes of Neil Young's Heart of Gold and bed before 10:30. Rock-n-Roll life for me!
You are too funny, Jeff. Of course I read yours! (Though I haven’t been reading too much of anything lately; I’ve been working too hard – but not this week! Yet, anyway.) I’m really grateful you commented as it prompted me to go read you tonight. I didn’t know about the infant seat thing. Conner has just reached 20 lbs so I’m now car seat shopping this week thanks to you. And I’m such a ditz. Do you know that I’ve replied to you now a number of times? I’m guessing not as those replies would be to noreply-comment@blogger.com – what a maroon I am! Good grief.
Oh, oh, oh! They are so beautiful!
Did you make the dollhouse?
Thank you! My mom did. You should see the inside - or perhaps I should say "should have seen" as it's mostly dismantled now. Tiny handmade candlesticks, books, rugs, paintings, beds, couches, tables, centerpieces, curtains, plants, toys, bric-a-brac - all safely away (other than the few pieces Conner tasted). But at least I got to play with it for awhile first.
I should add, for my mother's information and entertainment, that the house is now populated by legos and noah's ark animals.
